Cannibal Ferrox (1981)
Cannibal Ferrox, also known as Make Them Die Slowly in the US and as Woman from Deep River in Australia, is a 1981 Italian cannibal exploitation horror film written and directed by Umberto Lenzi.
Plot Cannibal Ferrox
A group of anthropologists take a trip to the jungle of Colombia to study native cannibals. Instead, they find a group of drug dealers, using the natives to harvest coca leaves. After some time, the natives are tired of being tortured slaves, and turn on their masters, as well as the anthropologists, filling the screen with blood and gore.

Making of Cannibal Ferrox
Like Cannibal Holocaust (1980), this movie contains several actual animal killings. Giovanni Lombardo Radice strongly objected to the animal killings and refused to participate in them (a double had to be used). Director Umberto Lenzi tried to convince Radice to do the killings by telling him, “De Niro [Robert De Niro] would do it,” to which Radice responded, “De Niro would kick your ass all the way back to Rome.”
Umberto Lenzi used the same music as he used in his earlier film, Eaten Alive! (1980)
Years later, Umberto Lenzi claimed he was dismayed that he was best known for this and his other cannibal films Sacrifice! (1972) and Eaten Alive! (1980), when he would much rather be remembered for his less-gruesome and more star-studded films.
After the hooks are in Pat’s breasts, they are twice as long as they were before.
Our view on Cannibal Ferrox
Cannibal Ferrox is an exploitation movie at its best/worst. Only for the die hards with a strong
. Lots of animal cruelty, chopped off body parts and bad dialogue. From the legend Umberto Lenzi maker of Eaten alive! and Nightmare City. A forbidden gem!
