The Beyond (1981)
The Beyond is a 1981 Italian occult horror film directed by Lucio Fulci starring Catriona MacColl and David Warbeck. It is part of the ‚Gates of Hell‘ trilogy made by Fulci as the second film. The first film is City of the Living Dead (1980) and the third The House by the Cemetery (1981).
Plot
Its plot follows a woman who inherits a hotel in rural Louisiana that was once the site of a horrific murder, and which may be a gateway to hell.

Making of The Beyond
This film was never seen in America in its uncut form until 1998, when the master was found ed the film, playing it at midnight shows at selected cities. Quentin Tarantino’s Rolling Thunder Pictures released the restored DVD, as it was his favorite horror film when initially released in 1983.
illustration artist Enzo SciottiQ and make-up artist Giannetto De Rossi both passed away on 11 April 2021, almost 40 years after the film’s Italian premiere (29 April 1981).
Our view on The Beyond
Horror fans and fsns of Italian horror must see this film. It is a true classic, It has received a real cult following over the years. The visuals are great and fulci with his experience as medical student delivers real gore here. Finaly the artwork of Enzo Sciotti is great. Check this one out.
