Making of the Serpent Warriors

This movie was Clint Walker’s last leading role and feature film.

The Serpent Warriors was filmed in Nevada and Taiwan.

Paul Freitag-Fey of the Daily Grindhouse wrote in his review: “In other words, Serpent Warriors is exactly the mess of a movie that you’d expect from a film created by three different sources each with their own plot and characters.” He could not figure out how Eartha Kitt was cast in the film as “it’s a bit puzzling that her film career was so… varied.”

Our view on the Serpent Warriors

The Serpent Warriors is an exploitation flick where a small group of American Raiders who go on a quest to destroy a snake-worshipping tribe. The scenes from another film are pasted in this film which make it a bit confusing. Some of thr Taiwan cast don‘t share screentime with the American cast. SerpentYuen Kao is taken from the 1983 movie Calamity of Snakes. Some sequences are lifted from that movie: Chang’s discovery of the snake pit on his building site, the sorcerer-like Snake Master’s battle with a giant python. There is a great ending with hundreds of serpents that attack the residents of Chang’s housing block. Eartha Kitt is great as the snake cult priestess. Exploitflix ok flick.
