Hannie Caulder is a British Western film from 1971. The film was directed by Burt Kennedy. Starring Raquel Welch, Robert Culp, and Ernest Borgnine.
Plot Hannie Caulder
Hannie Caulder (Raquel Welch) is a frontier wife, living with her husband in the American West. After a failed bank robbery, the Clemens gang, consisting of three brothers, arrive. After acting friendly, they murder Caulder’s husband, gang-rape her, burn down the family house, and leave her for dead in the burning house. 
Hannie Caulder escapes and recruits bounty hunter Thomas Price (Robert Culp) to help her get revenge by training her to be a gunfighter to take revenge on the brothers…

In his seven-decade career, this was Sir Christopher Lee’s only Western.
Quentin Tarantino has said this movie was one of his inspirations for Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004). “Why I love Hannie Caulder so much is Robert Culp,” he said. “He is so magnificent in that movie. I actually think there’s a bit of similarity between Sonny Chiba (Shin’ichi Chiba) and Uma Thurman in Kill Bill and Raquel Welch and Robert Culp in Hannie Caulder.”
Rodd Redwing, a fast-draw artist, was a Technical Advisor and worked with Robert Culp on this movie. Redwing suffered a heart attack on the plane returning from filming in Spain, and died shortly after landing in Los Angeles, California.
In September 1972, Paramount Pictures was widely distributing this movie on a double bill with The Legend of Nigger Charley (1972), starring Fred Williamson.
(at around 8 mins) Raquel Welch first appears, but despite being on-screen almost continuously, she doesn’t speak her first line until about 10 minutes later.
The production company, Curtwel Productions, was owned by Raquel Welch and her husband at the time Patrick Curtis.
Our view on Hannie Caulder
Hannie Caulder is a perfect rape and revenge western.
It has some similarities to Italian Spaghetti Westerns like Once Upon A Time In the West.
A good character in the movie is ghe bountyhunter who teaches Hannie how to shoot to take revenge for her husband and rape. Raquel Welch is sexy in her scenes where she doesn’t have any pants on.
